Living on the other side of the earth to pursue their golf dreams, LPGA Tour members Lee Min (李旻) and Chien Pei-Yun (錢珮芸) have developed decent cooking skills to satisfy their appetite for home flavors. “My best dish is the roast suckling pig,” said Lee. “Every time I make it, Chien and Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩) would just become like magnets and come around in a second!”

This is not the case for Hsu when it comes to cooking for herself, however. “I’m no good cook, that’s for sure. I just eat. I am not fussy about food anyway. So, probably it’s more difficult for me to be a good cook!”

Travelling so often by flight, they are frequently exposed to awkward situations that they normally wouldn’t face in small countries like Taiwan. “Late luggage is definitely the top nuisance,” said Chien. “It would so easily mess up your mood. Without your golf bag, you cannot even go on a golf course. Everything just feels so uncertain.”

Hsu used to love red-eye flights to cut her expenses, but she would now go with normal flights or treat herself even better with occasional upgrade to premium economy class. “I’m not young anymore. I see flight quality now a good and necessary investment,” Hsu said.

Also spending most of the season away from home, Korea LPGA Tour titlist Chen Yu-Ju (陳宇茹) always look to opportunities to share her oversea experiences to local peers and younger generations. “I see myself as a pioneer. I really hope my fellow players know how it really helps me as a player after I decided to get out of the comfort zone and play in other countries,” said Chen. “With all these years in Korea, I feel like I have some tips to share with them especially with the young ones. They’ve got a big future in front of them.” After finishing in a tie for fifth this week at the Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open, Chen will be joining as an instructor in a junior golf camp at the Old Tamsui Club next week, before taking part in the CTBC Invitational, which will be the final stop on the 2022 TLPGA Tour.
