2019 Taiwan LPGA Tour |Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open 11 – 13 Dec Final-Round Recap
Date:2019-12-13

Lin Tzu-Chi (林子麒) of Taiwan went wire-to-wire at the Tong Hwa Golf & Country Club to call it a season in style. She completed a 3-shot victory at the season’s finale -- the Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open. With this win, Lin becomes the first player in the TLPGA Tour history to make three winning runs in a single season.

Lin is enjoying a resurgence year when she captured her first title in four years at the Nan Yi Professional Ladies Open three months ago, and then followed it up with a victory at the KENDA Tire TLPGA Open in back-to-back weeks. The win on Friday marks her eighth on pro circuit, bringing her a NT$900,000 champion cash prize.

Lin started off the day holding a 4-shot cushion and was never getting it thinner than 3. She made five birdies, one less from what she had aimed to, and concluded the day with a final-round 2-under 70 and finished on 5-under par.

“I saw that beautiful Franz chinaware on Tuesday′s press conference and I thought, I′m winning it,” said Lin, referring to the champion trophy. “Which was just another motivation to win, because my mom carried the bag for me this week, I was hoping and felt very happy that I earned her another victory as a caddie. She wasn′t with me on the previous two occasions.”

“The wind was pretty distracting all week, but I tried to stay focused. Now that mission has been accomplished, I cannot wait to bring the chinaware back to my trophy case at home.”

The 29-year-old sets her sights on the LPGA Tour in the coming year, “but I would have to renew my U.S. visa first, and then hoping I could be playing on the Symetra Tour next summer. The ultimate goal is to win as many points as I could to earn the full membership onto the main Tour.”

This year′s Kaohsiung TLPGA Ladies Open for Charity champ Babe Liu (劉嬿) overcame a tight start to go from 2-over at the turn to 2-under in the end, thanks to two birdies and one eagle. Her Friday score was a 69.

The 9-time pro champion was hoping to find success for her passed father on his birthday. “It was close. If only I could have started it out stronger on Wednesday.”

Chen Yu-Ju (陳宇茹) met the goal she gave to herself to shoot six birdies in today′s round, but dropped four shots on the way. All four were short misses off her putter; one was a three-putt. Chen ended up in a tie for third on even par after a final-round 70. Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul, Arpichaya Yubol, Renuka Suksukont sit in the four-way tie.

2017 champion Ploychompoo Wilairungrueng′s winning hope took a hit on the 10th where she lost the ball, teed again, and leaving the hole finally with a double-bogey. She carded an even-par 72 to finish in solo seventh.

Taiwan Mobile ambassador Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩) picked up six birdies on the final day; however, five bogeys got in the way. She wrapped it up in a tie for eighth. “I′m hitting with more consistency today. But I thought I was a bit unlucky with the wind on some holes,” said the top-100 player on the Women’s World Golf Rankings. “Actually, I don’t think I′ve played any tournament at Tong Hwa since I turned pro. I needed to rely heavily on the caddies. I want to thank them for the work!”
