2026 Taiwan LPGA Tour | WPG Ladies Open 21 – 24 May Final-Round Recap
Date:2026-05-24

Taiwan’s Tsai Pei-Ying (蔡佩穎) captured the WPG Ladies Open title today. The JLPGA Tour campaigner fired a final-round 67 to overtake 54-leader Yani Tseng (曾雅妮) and secured the victory at this NT$15-million TLPGA Tour major. Sixteen months after her last victory at the same venue, Tsai returned to Sunrise Golf & Country Club to claim her seventh career title.

Starting the final round on Sunday one stroke behind Tseng, Tsai stole the lead with her third birdie of the day on the 9th hole. Though Tseng briefly matched the pace on the 10th, Tsai regained the upper edge on the 11th and never looked back. She closed with two additional birdies, carding a total of six birdies and one bogey for the round. She finished at 17-under for the tournament, winning by two strokes and taking home the NT$3 million winner’s check.

While Tseng fell just short of securing her second TLPGA major title at Sunrise—following her victory at the Wistron Ladies Open last October—her performance provided a much-needed boost of confidence ahead of her return to the LPGA Tour for the upcoming U.S. Women’s Open.

Lee Hsin (李欣), who led through the first 36 holes, rebounded with a sharper iron game to card a 68, finishing in solo third at 276.

Coming from one shot off the lead, Tsai felt very much in rhythm from the start of the day. Despite missing the green on the par-3 second hole, she saved par with a difficult up-and-down, which gave her a significant confidence boost forward.

Tsai was also highly efficient on the par-5s, where she picked up three birdies out of the four opportunities.

The 17th hole could have easily derailed Tsai’s momentum. Her tee shot landed left of the fairway, leaving a tricky angle for her approach, but she managed to execute a precise fade that landed the ball just short of the green. She then faced a nerve-wracking downhill putt, which rattled around the cup before finally dropping to save par. “If I had made bogey there, the lead would have shrunk to one,” Tsai noted. "Well, given Yani’s power and experience, she could have easily snatched the back the win on the final par-5.”

“Being able to return to a familiar course and keep the trophy in Taiwan has made for some truly wonderful memories this week,” Tsai added. “I am grateful to WPG Holdings for providing such an incredible stage. The weather at Sunrise was beautiful, and so was my spirit. The ’One Birdie, One Tree’ initiative is very touching, and I’m glad to contribute to the campaign. It feels amazing and lively to witness so many new saplings taking root. I also want to thank my sponsors and my playing partners, Yani Tseng and Lee Hsin, who pushed me to my limits. I’ll definitely be back here next year!”

Title sponsor WPG Holdings, an ESG-friendly, global-leading distributor of semiconductor components, has planted nearly 2,500 trees in the community, and expects to add another 1,200 this year with the ongoing "One Birdie, One Tree" campaign since 2024.

Tseng felt physically stiff during her morning practice and spent the round trying to adjust. Her form improved as the round progressed. “My ball-striking with the irons felt solid, but the results just weren’t as good as yesterday,” Tseng said. “I wasn’t exactly hitting my spots, which left me with few birdie chances on the greens. Still, this was a productive week. It’s been a long time since I’ve competed in a final-group battle this intense, and it served as perfect preparation for my upcoming U.S. Open venture.”

“Congratulations to our champion, Tsai Pei-Ying, on winning once again at Sunrise, what a beautiful week for you! And congratulations to our top amateur Lin Pin-Shan (林品杉) for her impressive showing,” TLPGA Chairwoman Huang Bie-Shyun said. At the end of the awarding ceremony, WPG Holdings CEO Chang R-G. presented the NT$100,000 hole-in-one prizes to Lin Yi-Hui (林怡潓) and Tai Yu-Shan (戴佑珊).

The 2026 WPG Ladies Open is title-sponsored by WPG Holdings. Joint Diamond sponsors include Kioxia and MPS. Platinum sponsors include AOS, Micron, Molex, Nexperia, Onsemi, and STMicroelectronics. Gold sponsors include Chunghwa Telecom, Deloitte, Diodes, Microsoft, Macronix, Nuvoton, Palo Alto Networks, PennEngineering, PwC, Semtech, SunnyHills, Toshiba, uPI, Vishay, Winbond, Wolfspeed, Zilltek, and Yi-Wan Construction.
