2026 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament 12 – 15 Mar Third-Round Recap
Date:2026-03-14

JLPGA Tour elite Fuka Suga overcame gusty conditions at Taoyuan’s Orient Golf and Country Club, racking up six birdies, offset by just two bogeys, to take the lead at the 2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament, a TLPGA and JLPGA Tour co-sanctioned event. Suga will head into tomorrow’s final round with a three-stroke cushion.

Taiwanese player Chen Min-Jou (陳敏柔) and Japan’s Shina Kanazawa, who were tied for third yesterday, both delivered steady performances with even-par 72s to sit in a tie again for second at 217. Former World No. 1 and local favorite Yani Tseng (曾雅妮) posted a 74, leaving her in a tie for 16th at 224.

Fuka Suga, a 20-year-old Miyazaki-native, has been on a fast track since joining the JLPGA Tour in the 2024 season, in which she recorded four top-10 finishes in just 22 starts. She followed that up with her maiden victory at the Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Ladies Open last September. Despite finding success on the course this week, Suga is keeping a cautious mindset.

"The back nine was a bit of a struggle today, especially with the shifting winds. I really need to work on maintaining my stamina and focus through the end of the round," Suga said.

Chen Min-Jou, who is also aiming at her second career professional title, sat at the top of the leaderboard for a stretch thanks to her high driving accuracy. However, she dropped three shots in two holes on the 16th and 17th, slipping into the chasing pack.

"I lost my rhythm a bit on the 16th, and that downhill putt on the 17th just didn’t take the break I expected," Chen said. "But I’m happy with how I scrambled today and capitalized on my birdie chances. Being this close to a win definitely brings some nerves, so I’ll try to stay aggressive tomorrow."

Kanazawa, also a one-time Tour winner, showed improved ball-striking with her irons today. "I worked on some swing adjustments after yesterday’s round, and it really paid off today," she said. "I’m getting a much better feel for the slopes and green speeds. My plan for tomorrow is to stay steady, take it one shot at a time, and I believe the opportunity will be there."

One of the big storylines for tomorrow’s final round will be which player in the lead group can break through for their second career victory.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s crowd favorite Yani Tseng moved up three spots after her third-round 74. "It was a grind out there, but I managed to save quite a few pars," she said. "The greens are still so tricky, but I want to be more aggressive tomorrow. It is the final day. I’m just going to go for it!"

The 2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament, title-sponsored by Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) and co-organized by the TLPGA and JLPGA, kicked off its four-round competition on Thursday at the Orient Golf & Country Club. A total of 108 players from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, China, and Malaysia have gathered in Taiwan to compete for a winner’s check of US$360,000.
