Taiwanese Pei-Ying Tsai Takes Early Lead at Taiwan Women′s Golf Open

(Jan. 17th, 2019,Kaohsiung)2019 Taiwan Women′s Golf Open kicked off in Kaohsiung Hsin Yi Golf Club today. In addition to the competition, the weather change had become the biggest challenge for players. In the morning, due to poor visibility caused by fog, the first round was suspended for a while. However, as the game went on, the sun warmed the sky gradually.

In the morning of first round, featured a "hole-in-one" achievement on the 13th hole.

Taiwanese Pei-Ying Tsai reeled off four birdies in a bogey-free round en route to a 4-under 68 in the opening round of the 2019 Taiwan Women′s Golf Open to sit atop the leaderboard with a one-shot lead. “I feel like I have a great relationship with the course here and everyone has been super supportive.” Tsai said in her post-match interview. “I love coming here. The course is amazing, and the fans are great!”

Featured former world no.1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan, with Korean Hye Jin Choi and Ji Hyun Oh alongside, there are many hometown fans who followed them every stroke and putt today at Hsin Yi Golf Club. Tseng and Rolex Rankings no. 38 Ji Hyun Oh fired a 2-under 70 today to tie for fourth.

 The course in Hsin Yi Golf Club features a longer distance. “It is quite suitable for a powerful player like me. I′m satisfied with the performance today.” Yani Tseng said. “Though there is more improvement in putting, I hope to get better and better in the following rounds.”

Local favorite Wei-Ling Hsu, who had trouble controlling the iron shot toady, shot an even-par 72 today to sit at T19 with twelve players, including Rolex Rankings no. 24 Hye Jin Choi. Korean Chae Yoon Park and A Lim Kim each carded a 69 to tie for second.

Round 2 of the 2019 Taiwan Women′s Golf Open will tee off from 07:30 AM tomorrow, with the leading group made up of Pei-Ying Tsai, Chae Yoon Park and A Lim Kim scheduled to start at 10:30 AM. Former world no. 1 Yani Tseng will tee off tomorrow with So Young Lee at 10:20 A.M. Local favorite Wei-Ling Hsu will start with Hsin Yu Lu at 09:20 A.M. Hometown heroine Yu-Ju Chen will tee off tomorrow with Hye Jin Choi of Korea at 09:10 A.M.

Welcome to join us at Kaohsiung Hsin Yi Golf Club to support Taiwan players and enjoy high-level international events. People can buy tickets via ibon ticketing system platform, or buy tickets at the golf course during the tournament.

To make things easier for fans, free shuttle buses are scheduled to operate between Hsin Yi Golf Club and Taiwan High Speed Rail Zuoying station (Rainbow Market) from Thursday to Sunday. If driving to the venue, please take advantage of the open parking on both sides of Hsin Yi road. Parking passes are required to enter parking lot of Hsin Yi Golf Club during tournament week. Golf fans unable to come to the golf course in person can also tune in to FTV News Channel, APP (Formosa TV) and Chunghwa Telecom MOD for live telecast from 12:30 to 16:30, and there are reply on TV channel, FTV HD, in evening between January 17 and 20. In addition, MOE Sports of Sports Administration, Ministry of Education will provide YouTube live broadcast for this tournament. It is provided from FTV that the signal for this tournament live broadcast, and grateful to the authorized by Chinese Taipei Golf Association.
